J. Luis Rodriguez is Chairman and CEO of Trans Tech Ag Corp. (TTAG), a consulting and research firm based in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Mr. Rodriguez is an international agricultural advisor and governmental relations consultant with over 35 years experience.

He held senior executive positions in the administration of President George Bush from January 1990 to October 1992 with the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Washington, D. C.

In the private sector, he managed his family's commercial vegetable operations in South Florida, the Caribbean, and Central America from 1967 until 1989. He is a past president (1985-1987) of the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association.

In 1985 he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the Board for Radio Broadcasting to Cuba.

He has served on the board of directors of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, WXEL (PBS) Television, and the Broward-Palm Beach Farmers Committee for Legislative Action, Inc. and served as a member of the Governor's Commission for the Everglades from 2000-2001.

Mr. Rodriguez is a past member and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the North Broward Hospital District and presently serves as a member of The Florida State Fair Authority. He served on the Policy Transition Team for Governor Jeb Bush.

Mr. Rodriguez has extensive experience in the area of international trade, and is a skilled negotiator. He is the principal trade advisor to the Florida Farmers Inc. (FFI).

In 1996 he was instrumental in the floor price agreement between Mexican tomato growers and the U.S. Department of Commerce.

In November 1998 he negotiated a 13% pay raise for Florida's Farmworkers at the request of Governor-elect Jeb Bush.

Politically, he has been involved in many Republican causes over the last 20 years including the National Republican Senatorial Trust, the Congressional Republican Leadership Council, George Bush for President 79-80, Reagan/Bush Campaign 1980, Reagan/Bush Campaign 1984, Foundation for Americas Future 85-88, Rural America for Bush 1988, Jeb Bush for Governor 1994 Finance Committee, and Jeb Bush for Governor 1998 Finance Committee. Farmers & Ranchers for George W. Bush 2000 and Bush-Brogan 2002.

RAFAEL BEHAR,PhD.





Dr. Behar of Miami, Florida, holds a Doctorate Degree from the University of Havana in Agricultural sciences and a Masters Degree in sugar chemistry. He has extensive agricultural experience in Cuba, Israel, Panama, Honduras, Barbados and other Caribbean and Latin American Countries. Dr. Behar has worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Organization of American States (OAS), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Government of Israel. In the private sector, Dr. Behar has worked with Chechi and Co., CBI Agribusiness Group, and Associates Development, Inc. He has been associated with Trans Tech Ag Corp. since 1983 and is a member of its Board of Directors.

MICHELLE GARCIA





Michelle Garcia is a government relations professional with a wide range of experience having worked in the executive and legislative branches, on a federal election campaign and as a government relations professional in Washington DC. She recently joined the Florida Farmworker Housing Coalition in its efforts to secure funds to address the critical shortage of farmworker housing, a situation that plagues both farmworkers and the agricultural industry. Ms. Garcia served as the deputy director of the National Women's Business Council, an independent federal agency. As its deputy director, she managed the process of appointing the Council's members, appointments made by the President and the Administrator of the Small Business Administration. She also maintained primary responsibility for working with Congress to secure the Council's annual appropriation. In this position, Ms. Garcia also demonstrated her skills as a successful coalition builder, forming partnerships in the public, private and non-profit sectors. These relationships were instrumental in leveraging Council resources to increase the impact of its work in the area of entrepreneurship policy and programs. Prior to joining the Council, Michelle was the Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs for Greenberg Traurig's Washington DC office. In this capacity she oversaw a wide range of client interests focusing on the areas of agriculture, trade, land use and banking. Ms. Garcia was active in working with Florida's agricultural industry in seeking relief from the unfair trading practices of some of the US's trading partners. This work was a natural outgrowth of her previous position as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Peter Deutsch (FL). As Deutsch's Legislative Assistant, Ms. Garcia handled a wide range of issues including foreign affairs, trade, agriculture, defense, immigration and transportation. She traveled on international congressional delegation trips representing the US Congress and drafted legislation for Deutsch that was passed in his first term of office. Ms. Garcia also held positions with Senator Bob Graham (FL), MWW/Strategic Communications and Peter Deutsch for Congress. Michelle received her BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business and a MSc in Economic Development Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was born and currently resides in Miami, Florida.

FERNANDO L. ROIG Esq.


 

Fernando L. Roig is a native Floridian, having received his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami in 1985 and his Juris Doctorate law degree from Nova University in 1988. Mr. Roig serves on the Board of Directors of Trans Tech Ag Corp. Fernando Roig is the managing partner of Fernando L. Roig and Associates, P.A. a law firm specializing in insurance defense litigation, product liability and commercial litigation. Mr. Roig was named by Governor Jeb Bush of Florida to a two year term on the Governor's Commission for the Everglades in 1999.

TRACEY O'NEILL


 

Since September of 1997 Tracey O'Neill has been the Newsletter Coordinator for the Florida Farmers and Suppliers Coalition. She creates and designs a monthly newsletter distributed to 150 subscribers. From 1977 to 1980 Ms. O'Neill was the Credit and Collections Manager for Ametek Aluminum Extrusion in Watsonville, Ca. In 1980 she became the Office Manager for M & R Farms, Inc. and Corky Foods Corp. in Boynton Beach, Fl. From 1983 to 1986 Ms. O'Neill was the Office Manager for Shibamoto America, Inc. an import-export company located in Atlanta, Ga. Ms. O'Neil has served on the Board of Directors of Trans Tech AG Corp. since 1983.
